Blue and white is one of my favorite color combination in decorating. It is such a classic and timeless look. Depending on the shade of blue you choose the style of the room can go from completely classic and traditional to modern and funky and everything in between. I particularly love blue and white in the summer when I am craving light and airy rooms. And when you use blue and white as a basis for the design of your room it make a clean palette that you can layer almost any color on top of for added interest. This dining area in the kitchen by Fawn Galli is so brignt and fresh. In combination with the all white kitchen the turquoise blue chairs and the bright floral fabric on the window shades really makes the room pop and have personality. Erica Burns Interiors designed this living room. I love the classic beach style with the bleached floors, cotton striped rug and slipcovered sofas. I would love to kick back on one of those couches after a day at the beach. |
Painting the back of built-in's is a great way to add some interest to a room. The navy high-gloss here by Nina Liddle is a perfect backdrop for all of the white seashells she has displayed. I love the clean look of the display here with a lot of open space.
This room is by Lily Bunn Weekes. She is one of my favorite designers. She uses color is such fresh ways. This is another example of high-gloss blue but it is enveloping the entire room. I love the mirror like finish! We have had high gloss walls done for a client and getting it right is not an easy process. It takes tons of work and time to create a smooth finish on the walls and then apply the paint for a smooth result. You really need to hire a painter who knows what they are doing.
One of my favorite places to use blue and white is in a bedroom. The soothing color combination is just perfect for a relaxing space. This bedroom was in House Beautiful. The mix of patterns and shade of blue is perfect and gives the space a relaxed look. There is so much to look at in this room yet it is soothing and restful.
Have you use blue and white in your home? It is the main basis for most of the rooms in my house and it seems to be a palette that I don't tire of.
