Stair Runners

I have stair runners on the  brain!   I ordered and finally installed a Dash and Albert runner at my house and have also been helping a friend choose a stair runner for her house.  Stair runners can be such a fun little place to add some personality to your home.

Originally, I had a seagrass stair runner in my house with a simple black banding.  It has a clean, classic look but it wasn't the softest on your feet first thing in the morning.  I probably would have stuck with it but my dogs decided to chew a hole in the one of the steps when we got them a couple of years ago.  I have lived with a stair runner with a giant hole in it for over 2 years and finally decided it needed to go!

I didn't have the DeGournay paper or the amazing curved staircase but I had a similar runner!
I chose an indoor/outdoor runner from Dash & Albert to replace it.  I have a Dash & Albert indoor/outdoor rug in my dining room and have been really impressed at the feel (it isn't super rough like so many indoor/outdoor rugs) and most importantly, the way spots and stains literally are washed away with water.  We had one incident where I though the dining  room rug was going to the curb but hosed it down in a last ditch attempt and with only water it looked brand new again.

So, I went with a navy and white diamond pattern for my new stair runner like the one in the pic below.  I am waiting to have a railing installed and when that happens I will post pics of my actual runner.

I really, really wanted to do a leopard or antelope stair runner but I ordered Brunschwig & Fil Ashanti wallpaper to go in my small hallway at the top of the stairs so i didn't want to do too much animal print in the same area.

Ashanti wallpaper above.  Can't wait to have it installed!!  I ordered a different color way but I love the blue as well!

But animal print is really one of my favorites!!!

Antelope is always a favorite and I particularly like it with the blue banding above.

Leopard is by far my favorite!  This image above from Sarah Bartholomew is THE BEST!  The Pierre Frey wallpaper alone is so great but combined with the stair runner it is the coolest space!

Geometric patterns are also great.  They definitely bring an updated look to a space.

Classis Hicks pattern looks great on these stairs below:

Finally, my latest carpet pattern obsessions is plaid.  In updated colors and a larger scale pattern it can look so funky and fresh.  Below this tartan pattern looks so great in the green and blue color way.  This pattern is definitely a bold choice and I would probably reserve it for a country house or a cabin.  It may be tiring to look at every day.

This plaid pattern below looks clean and fresh and also pretty timeless in the black and gray colorway.   Really loving this clean look!
