One Room Challenge- Week 2

4/11/2018

Here we are at week 2 of the One Room Challenge.  I don't have much progress to show in photos yet of the actual room.  That work is going to be started this next week but I made a lot of decisions and ordered a bunch of stuff.  For some reason I am feeling like I have this all under control and getting it done will be no problem. I have a sneaking suspicion I may have a different feeling around week 5???

So....last week I thought I was all set on what I wanted to do in my guest bedroom.  But, I decided to change it up!
I thought I was going to wallpaper the entire room.  Since the bedroom is "under the eaves" and has low slanted ceilings I originally wanted to give it a cozy tented feel.  But the more I thought about it, the more I realized I wasn't sure.  The room is small and also doesn't get much sunlight.  While that would definitely create a cozy room I also wanted it to be bright and inviting.  So, I scrapped the wallpaper and decided to paint the room all white instead.  Total opposite!

The new plan has layers of fabric and block prints.

Here are a few updated inspiration photos:

Love this twin bedroom by Amelia Handegan.

Above bedroom by Mark D. Sikes.  I love anything that he does!

So, still lots of blue and white...naturally.  Definitely my favorite colors.

I placed most of the orders this past week and have to get my fabrics to my workroom to get drapes and pillows made.

The drapes are going to be this great block print by Clarence House.  I love the border!

I also ordered these pleated lampshades from OKA.  OKA is an British home decor company.  I have gotten their catalog for years but they never used to ship to the US.  Interestingly, when I was in London last year the apartment we rented was literally down the street from the OKA store.  I could see if from our balcony but I never was able to get there!  We left early  and returned late everyday and somehow never I made it in.
However, I am very excited about these lampshades.  Not sure what the sconces will be yet but the current scones I have in there will work with these shades.  The only catch is that I am not 100% positive they will arrive on time.  Fingers crossed!

I also ordered some Michael Smith for Jasper fabric for euro shams.  I have to make a final decision on the bedding and to see what ties everything together best.
I am torn on what to do with the rug.  The floors are wood that I painted white a few years ago.  I have long loved the Stark leopard print rugs.  I really want to do this version:

But in reality it is a seldom used guest room so I will probably end up doing the antelope print rug from Ballard.

A third options to throw a wrench to future complicate decision making is a vintage Moroccan Beni Ourain rug that I have had for a couple of years.  I may be asking for votes next week!
That is my progress for this week.  Come back next week to see some photos of the rooms progress.  I will be choosing the white to use as well as a paint color for the doors.  I will also have to decide which dresser to use as I currently have two options along with art and accessories.

I can't wait to see what everyone else is up to this week on their One Room Challenges!
