When we first moved into our house 8 years ago we immediately ripped out the bathroom. Actually, I went to work the first Monday after we moved in and came home that afternoon and literally the entire bathroom and adjoining laundry room were ripped down to the studs. A little unexpected but when your husband is a Contractor you never know what you may come home to!
We knew we eventually wanted to redo the bathroom but I didn't realize it was going to happen so soon. Plus, it is the only bathroom in our house.....so when I came home to no toilet, no shower, and no bathroom sink I was a bit concerned!
We quickly went about putting the bathroom back together but since it was done in a rush there are a lot of things I would like to change/update.
Here is the current state of our bathroom.

We have a custom black vanity with a Kohler Memoirs sink and toilet. The vanity has a calacatta marble counter. Our house is a 1700's farmhouse so I try to be sensitive to that while also making it much more modern when making design decision. Originally I had a much more delicate sconces but last year we switched them out to these. The medicine cabinet is Restoration Hardware. The lower half of the walls is simple beadboard painted white. The color on the walls is Benjamin Moore Stonington Gray.
Black roman shade and Serena & Lily shower curtain. The shower is tiled in white subways. The shower curtain and shade will have to be switched out. Probably for plain white with a banded edge.
You can't see the floor in any of these photos but it is a wide board wood floor that I had painted white. The floor is one thing that needs to be updated. I like the wood floor but since it was painted with oil based paint it has yellowed and that yellowing is magnified against the white beadboard and white toilet. Plus, a white floor in the bathroom shows every piece of hair that falls to the ground! The floor needs to be repainted with some type of pattern. I am thinking of something like these below.
This one is simple but has some interest. Don't remember where I found this pic online. I have had it saved for a few years.
I love this one from Meredith Heron Design. Especially with the green lacquered shelving:
I could always just switch over to another color and paint the whole floor one bright color. This is a Windsor Smith kitchen. I love it but wonder if I am going to tire of a bright blue floor?
This is probably what I will go with. A combination of this:
And this by Grant Gibson. I want to use three colors in the pattern (black, white, and gray) so I will have to modify these to come up with a design that incorporates all three colors. I like the idea of a large, simple graphic.
After the floor is painted I also want to choose a wallpaper. Here is where I can't make a decision! There are so many great wallpapers out there that narrowing it down is killing me! Here are some that are in the running:
I love this pattern from Quadrille. I want to use it in my bedroom for drapes as well so it may get ruled out for bathroom wallpaper so my house isn't covered in the same pattern! This is from Pinterest and was done by Van Roozebom Interiors.
Then there is the zebra pattern from Scalamandre. Maybe too overdone? But I love it in this blue/yellow combo.
.
Then there is lotus by Gilbraith & Paul .
Finally, another favorite is Island Ikat by Thibaut.
I would love to hear any thoughts or ideas on the wallpaper or any other suggestions you might have!
